Herb (Herby) Hopper, 68, of Adel, died at Langdale Hospice House on Sunday, January 16, 2022. Born in Adel on December 27, 1953, Herby was the son of the late James Alvin and Nell Reddick Hopper. A member of Abundant Life Church of God, he worked with House of Grace in Adel, leading devotionals, and bible studies, encouraging, and mentoring the men there. Herby was a prayer warrior, who loved to read his Bible and share the Gospel of Christ. He was a caregiver for his elderly parents and his parents- in-law, Herby was employed as a Registered Nurse at South Georgia Medical Center. He loved the game of football, was Captain of his high school football team and was an avid Georgia Bulldog fan.
Survivors are his wife, Andrea Hopper of Adel; daughter and sons, Alexandrea Hopper of Hahira, Joseph Hopper of Valdosta, Israel Hopper of Adel; his brother, Nick Hopper of Adel; special cousins, Joel Reddick of Adel, Denise and Bo Tucker of Hahira; sister-in-law, Tish Ibarra of Lake Park, brother-in-law and sister- in-law, Al and Lori Swilley of Valdosta; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Lori and Jim Bennett, and father- in- law, Albert Swilley of Valdosta; sisters Amy Miller and Hilda Price. Herby was preceded in death by his parents and his mother-in-law, Serena Swilley.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Abundant Life Church of God. Reverend Wayne Hughes, Pastor Chris Musgrove and Pastor Junior Dees will officiate. Burial will follow at Swilley Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Carson McLane Funeral Home on Tuesday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Condolences may be expressed online at www.mclanecares.com.
