Henry Edward Mathis, Jr.

Henry Edward (Buddy) Mathis, Jr., 71, of Hahira died Thursday, May 26, 2011 at Fellowship Home. He was born in Lowndes County, GA on January 25, 1940 to Henry Edward Mathis, Sr. and Willa Mae Newmans Mathis. Mr. Mathis was a tool and dye maker, was a cabinet maker with Fields Custom Cabinets, served in the United States Navy and was a member of Crosspointe Church.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Jones Mathis of Hahira, two daughters and sons in law, Becky and Ray Parr and Tamara and Jamie Oglesby, all of Hahira, five grandchildren, Walter Oglesby, Jacob Oglesby, Jaylee Oglesby, Zachary Parr and Grayson Parr, all of Hahira, his mother, Willa Mae Robinson of Ocala, FL, one brother and sister in law, Charles and Donna Mathis of South Carolina, two sisters and brothers in law, Charlotte and Rab McBurney of Alabama and Debbie and Dr. Bob Murray of Tennessee and his step mother, Mary Mathis of Valdosta.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 28, 2011 at two p. m. at the Martin McLane Funeral Home in Hahira with Reverend Walter Long officiating. Burial will follow in Campground Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from six until eight p. m at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to WAFT 101.1, 215 Waft Hill Lane, Valdosta, GA 31602.
