HENRY CURTIS DUCKWORTH, 74, of Hahira, passed away Thursday November 26, 2009, at South Georgia Medical Center after a lengthy illness. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

He was born December 25, 1934 in Lavonia, but had resided in Hahira for the past 45 years. His parents are the late Kirby and Pauline Duck of Royston. Mr. Duckworth served in the U.S. Air Force for 10 years, and was the Flagger at Thunderbolt Speedway for 25 years. He was a retired road driver from Southeastern Freight Lines. He was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 39 years, Juanita Duckworth of Hahira; five daughters and two son-in-laws, Becky Aldrich of Hillsboro, OR, Sheila Davis of Ft. Myers, FL, Kathy and Steve Stone of Hahira, Vicki Phillips of Hahira, and Deanna and Matthew Dosier of Hahira; one son, Bruce Duckworth of Hendersonville, TN; special friend who is like a son, Ricky and Betty Swafford of Ray City; fourteen grandchildren, Steve and Heather Marcatos of Valdosta, Ashley and Rusty Warf of Metter, Brandon Banks of Hahira, Chanda and Donnie Young of Stockton, Brett and Kayla Marcatos of Hahira, C.J. Starns of Valdosta, Travis Starns of Ocala, FL, Melissa Stevens of Valdosta, Michelle Harris of Valdosta, William Aldrich of Hillsboro, OR, Kelsie and Allen Hardgrove of Hendersonville, TN, Kristi and Will Hudson of Hendersonville, TN, Brooke and Steve Anderson of Columbus, Ashley and Brian Capone of Crestview, FL; nineteen great-grandchildren; one brother, Leonard and wife Patsy Duck of Royston; four sisters, Ella Jack and husband Paul Bennett of Commerce, Joyce and husband Tom Lewis of Spartanburg, SC, Wanda and husband Floyd Fowler of Royston, and Ruby Stapleton of Lumber City; two sister-in-laws, Mary Nell Duck of Alma, and Willowdean Kimbrough of Haleyville, AL; one brother-in-law, Charles Morrison of Haleyville, AL; several nieces and nephews; and his best friend, his dog Peanut. He was predeceased by one brother, James Duck, and two sisters, Ella Savannah Duck and Myrtle Woodard.

Funeral Services for Mr. Duckworth will be held at 3:00 pm Saturday, November 28, 2009, at New Bethel Baptist Church, with Dr. Sherman Kimbrough of Haleyville, AL, Rev. Jim Schappaugh, and Rev. Ray Calvin officiating. Burial will follow at Friendship Cemetery. Mr. Duckworth's family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Friday at the Martin McLane Funeral Home of Hahira.
