Henrietta Barnes

Henrietta “Hank” Barnes, 89, of Valdosta, died Saturday, February 26, 2011 at South Georgia Medical Center. She was born on January 29, 1922 in Dalton, Georgia to the late Benjamin Fred Foster and Mamie Bryant Foster. Mrs. Barnes was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, a member of the Little Red Hen’s Red Hat Club, a member of the Lowndes County Senior Center, a member of Daughter’s of the King and was a retired civil service clerk.

She is survived by her daughter and son in law, Sandy and Keith Blevins, her son, Dale Barnes, all of Valdosta, four grandchildren, Lee LeFiles and his wife Missy, Kathryn Miley and her husband, Mike, all of Hahira, Jessica Barnes and Kendall Barnes of Valdosta, four great grandchildren, Chase Miley, Landon Miley, Leesy LeFiles and Milli LeFiles. Mrs. Barnes is preceded in death by her husband, Martin Royal Barnes and her daughter, Marsha Barnes Bates.

Memorial services will be held Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at eleven a. m. at Christ Episcopal Church. Burial will follow in the church urn garden. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5 until 7 p. m. at the Carson McLane Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice of South Georgia, P. O. Box 1727, Valdosta, GA 31603-1727 or to Christ Episcopal Church building fund, 1521 North Patterson Street, Valdosta, GA 31602.
