Helen Marie Porter

Helen Marie McMillian Porter, 63, of Valdosta died Monday, June 23, 2008 at South Georgia Medical Center. She was born on March 21, 1945 in Union, Mississippi to the late Lewis and Hazel Marie Wilkerson McMillian and had lived in Valdosta for many years. Mrs. Porter was a member of the Clyattville First Baptist Church and retired from Winn-Dixie. She was currently employed with Mr. B's IGA, enjoyed arts and crafts and being with friends.

Survivors include her husband, Reason Porter of Valdosta, her three children and their spouses, Ronald R. and Mayln Porter of Temple, GA., Lisa A. and Wayne Smith and Bryan J. and Michelle Porter both of Valdosta, her grandchildren, Brent Porter, Tabitha Porter, Pamela Porter Reed, Celia Smith Thomas, Michaela Porter, Alisha Smith, Tyler Rogers and Travis Porter, two great grandchildren, Zoe Porter and Kylee Thomas two special friends, Cheryl Pinkard and Mary Billingsley both of Valdosta, sister, Lindsey Dove of Valdosta, four brothers, Jimmy McMillian of Hawkinsville, Glen McMillian of Ocilla, Richard McMillian of Tifton and Danny McMillian of Ocilla. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Tyrus Porter.

Funeral services will be held at 11am, Friday, June 27, 2008 in the chapel of McLane Lakewood Funeral Home with Sammy Reaves officiating. Burial will follow in the Lake Park Cemetery.
