Helen James Cunningham

Helen James Cunningham, 73, of Valdosta, died on Monday, September 19, 2016 at South Georgia Medical Center following a short illness. She was born on December 12, 1942 to the late Rufus and Lucille Smith James. She was a homemaker and a member of Philadelphia Baptist Church. She exhibited a true servants heart to everyone she came in contact with always putting the needs of others before her own. She dearly loved her family and was a source of constant inspiration, encouragement and love for them.

Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Winton Cunningham; daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Bruce Waller and Tanya and Kevin Zipperer; a son and daughter-in-law, Duane and Teresa Cunningham all of Valdosta; a daughter, Rhonda Tomlinson of Hahira; a son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Ashli Cunningham of Valdosta; 12 grandchildren and their spouses, Kristy and Buck Paulk, Kerri and Dusty Strickland, Trey Tomlinson, Kevin and Anna Zipperer, Jessica and Jeff Taibl, Chaise Tomlinson, Tiffany Pearson, Stephen Deacon, Chelsea Cunningham, Tory Tomlinson, Duane Cunningham, and Case Moore; 14 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Tommy James of California, Gerald and Betty James of Valdosta, Steve and Kathy James of Trion, Georgia, and Jody and Shanda James of Hahira; a sister-in-law, Jean James of Madison, Florida; her aunt, Susie Corbitt of Jacksonville, Florida; special friend, Margie Powell and long term friend of the family, Anita Sinnott both of Valdosta; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Glenda Vincent and her brother, Gene James.

Services for Helen James Cunningham will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at Philadelphia Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Reverend Clay Luke will officiate the service. The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until service time at the church.
