Helen Haskins Hobbs, 72, of Valdosta, died on Sunday, April 26, 2020 at her home. Born in Lanier County, on December 6, 1947, Helen was a daughter of Imogene Peterson Haskins and the late Arthur Haskins. She graduated from Atkinson County High School in the mid 1960’s and moved to Ft. Walton Beach where she worked at Eglin Air Force Base. Helen returned to Valdosta to be near her family and began work as a legal secretary at Langdale Vallotton Law Firm. She met Walter Hobbs through friends in the early 1970’s and they were married in September 14, 1974. Helen continued to work with Langdale Vallotton until the early 1990’s when she began a career in real estate, working for several companies including Coldwell Banker and the Cam Company. She returned to law practices and worked for Saliba, Moore and Voyles until 2016. Helen enjoyed working in her yard and caring for her four-legged babies. She was an avid fan of college sports. Her true loves were her family, her husband, children and grandchildren.
Survivors are her husband, Walter Hobbs of Valdosta; daughter and son in law, Brandy G. and Gregg Barnes of Valdosta; her mother, Imogene Haskins of Pearson; sister and brother in law, Hilda and Starling Mercer of Axon; grandchildren, Drew Barnes, Brody Barnes of Valdosta; several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews.
