Helen Griffith, 94, of Valdosta, died suddenly on Monday, May 20, 2024, at her daughters residence. Born in Elizabethtown, KY to the late Charles E. Shelton and Vinona Mattie Rissler Shelton, she grew up in Radcliff, KY. At a fairly early age, Helen started working as a switchboard operator at Ft. Knox. She soon got married and had three daughters. Helen followed her husband during his 30 year military career and they moved to Milton, FL after his retirement. Helen moved to Valdosta in 2011 to be closer to her daughter. She loved spending time with her family and watched Gunsmoke playing on the TV.
Survivors include her three daughters and two sons in law, Sharon & Bobby Grimes of Elizabethtown, KY, Alesia Gail Dorminey of Valdosta, and Dana & Hansford Conner of Catlett, VA; five grandchildren, Tracy Graham, of Louisville, KY, Michele (& Aaron) Redfern, of Valdosta, Shannon (& Jim) Watts of Valdosta, Aaron (& Kealen) Conner of Warrenton, VA and Ashley (& Brad) Digges of Midland, VA. Also surviving are seven great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her former husband, Luther Griffith and a granddaughter, Jennifer Balbo.
The funeral for Mrs. Griffith will be held at 11 am on Saturday, May 25, 2024, in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home. Rev. Jamie Bone will officiate.
