Hazel Marie Zipperer, 100, of Valdosta, passed away on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at Langdale Hospice House. Born in Beaufort County, North Carolina on January 6, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Joshua Lawrence Lewis and Minnie Philinda Rhem Lewis.
Miss Hazel was a loving homemaker, widow of the late Foster Zipperer, she was a faithful member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening, reading books and feeding the birds in her yard. She loved trips to the beach and cheering on the Atlanta Braves.
Survivors are her children, Kevin, Sr. and Tanya Zipperer of Valdosta, Darlene Proctor of Lake Park; grandchildren, Kevin and Anna Zipperer of Valdosta, Kristy and Buck Paulk of Ray City, Kerri Strickland of Valdosta, Justin and Paige Proctor of Dixie; great grandchildren, Emma Paulk, Jeb Paulk, Brinson Paulk, Eliza Paulk, Ella Paulk, James Paulk, Ezra Paulk, Judah Paulk, Winn Strickland, Alli Strickland, Jake Strickland, Wyatt Zipperer, Millie Zipperer, Clayton Proctor, Cooper Proctor, and Cambree Proctor.
A graveside services for Mrs. Zipperer will be held on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at 10 a.m. at Mt. Zion Methodist Church Cemetery, Reverend Gordon VanNamee will officiate. The family will receive friends at the graveside on Tuesday from 9 a.m. until service time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Zion Methodist Church on Mt. Zion Road. Carson McLane Funeral Home is serving the Zipperer family.
