Harry J. Cooper, 68, of Valdosta, lost his battle with cancer on Friday, July 27, 2012. Born on February 2, 1944 in Barretts, Harry was a graduate of Hahira High School. He attended Valdosta State College where he was a member of Pi Kappa Phi and he served in the National Guard. He was owner of Cooper Chevron and was a 4th generation farmer of Cooper Farms.
Survivors are his wife, Christine Hill Cooper of Valdosta; five sons, Jay and Bridgette Cooper, Alan and Janice Cooper, Ashley Cooper, Dustin and Brandi Cooper, Stuart Cooper all of Valdosta, and grandchildren, Landon and Eli. Also surviving are a sister, Linda and Donnie Folsom, aunts, Ruth Stalvey and Hazel Whitehead, cousin, William and Alda Cooper all of Valdosta, and a wide extended family. Harry was preceded in death by his parents, L.J. and Dorothy Spell Cooper.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, July 29, 2012, at 4 p.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Mr. Chad Hendley will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday at 3 p.m. until service time.
