Harris Lee Caldwell, Sr., 68, of Valdosta died on Friday, September 3, 2010 at his residence following an eight year battle with cancer. He was born on November 10, 1941 in Daus, Tennessee to the late Paul and Mary Bell Lavan Caldwell. He worked for Hood Packaging as a technician and had served in the United States Navy from 1963-1969. He was of the Baptist Faith.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Elizabeth (Liz) Caldwell of Valdosta; a son and a daughter-in-law, James and Tammy Caldwell of Lake Park and a daughter-in-law, Jolee Caldwell of Valdosta; grandsons, Harris Lee Caldwell III and Tyler Joe Caldwell both of Valdosta and Dylan Caldwell of Lake Park; brothers and sister-in-law, Paul Caldwell, Jr. of Ten Mile, Tennessee and Richard and Chris Caldwell of Dunlap, Tennessee; sisters and brothers-in-law, Beulah Caldwell and Pauline Barker both of Dunlap, Tennessee, Jean and Clarence Smith of Pikeville, Tennessee and Gail and Gary Wyatt of Elmwood, Tennessee; sisters-in-law, Yvette Caldwell of Dunlap Tennessee and Genevia Caldwell of Chicasaw, Oklahoma; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Harris Lee Caldwell, Jr.; brothers, R.B. Caldwell and James Jackson Caldwell; sister, Mable Leslie.
Services for Harris Lee Caldwell, Sr. will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, September 6, 2010 in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Dr. Skip Van Nus officiating. The burial will follow in the Hickory Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 4-6 p.m. at the funeral home.
