Harold Karon Dampier

August 21, 1948 — December 1, 2015

Harold Karon Dampier, 67, of Valdosta died Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. He was born on August 21, 1948 in Valdosta and had lived most of his life in Valdosta. Mr. Dampier attended the Northside Baptist Church and was retired from Georgia Power Company. He was in the first graduating class of Lowndes High School where he played football and was a veteran of the United States Army. He thoroughly enjoyed farming and animals but most importantly his grandchildren. Mr. Dampier was always willing to help and teach anyone in need and could fix anything. He served on the Board of Pike Pond.
Survivors include his wife, Cyndi Lauderdale Dampier of Valdosta; two sons and a daughter in law, H. Brandon and Maryellen Dampier of Valdosta and Brent Howell Dampier of Sylvester; his grandchildren, Ella Grace, Jackson and Luke Dampier; his mother and stepfather, Joe V. and Audrey Tomlinson Dasher of Valdosta; brother and sister in law, Thomas T. and Veronica (Ronnie) Dampier of Valdosta; mother in law, Betty Lauderdale of Valdosta; two stepsons, Jason Emond and Joshua Emond both of Athens, GA; stepgrandson, Nicholas Emond; stepsisters and step brother in law, Patti and Jim Bethea of Jacksonville, FL, Susan D. Merritt of Avondale Estates, Joe V. Dasher, III of Jacksonville, FL; aunts and uncles, Amanda Fasnacht of Waycross, John T. and Barbara Tomlinson of Valdosta, Gerri Tomlinson Sutphin of Thomasville, GA; his nieces and nephews, Jason and Breezy Peake and Benjamin and Denice Dampier, numerous cherished cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Leon Dampier.
Funeral services will be held at 4pm, Saturday, December 5, 2015 at the Northside Baptist Church with Dr. Robby Foster and Rev. Bob Willis officiating. Burial will follow at the McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6-8pm at the funeral home.
