Harlan James Cheney

Harlan James Cheney, 73, of Valdosta died at his home on February 20, 2008. He was born on April 7th, 1934, in Fairmont, MN and has lived in Valdosta since 1974. Mr. Cheney was a Master Sergeant in the Air Force, retiring to Valdosta after 22 years of service. He then worked Quality Assurance at SAFT America until retiring in 1999. Mr. Cheney was a member of Clyattville United Methodist Church. He enjoyed camping and hiking with his dogs, Molly and Leo.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Stella Cheney; two sons and daughters-in-law, Eugene and Vickie Cheney of Melbourne, FL and Gary and Renee Cheney of Atlanta; a daughter and son-in-law, Dora and Jerry Phillips of Valdosta; a daughter and friend, Nola Cheney and Chris Kucsera of Marietta, GA; four grandchildren, Michael and Rebecca Cheney, both of Melbourne FL, and Katie and Ryan Phillips, both of Valdosta; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Ervin and Lois Cheney of Minneapolis, MN and George and Pearl Cheney of Browerville, MN; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Viola Steenhard of Swea City, IA and Melva and Art Schultz of Ceylon, MN. He was predeceased by his parents, Milo and Anna Cheney of Fairmont, MN.

Memorial services will be held Friday, February 22, 2008 at 4 p.m. in the chapel at Riverview Memorial Gardens with Reverend Mollie Danner officiating.
