Mr. Hardy Bruce Barwick, Sr., 95, of Valdosta, died on Saturday, May 2, 2009 at his residence following a short illness. He was born on April 15, 1914 in Camilla, Georgia to the late Hardy Buford and Rebecca Rigsby Barwick. He was a Church of Christ minister for 50 years and was an owner of a cabinet business. He was a member of Redland Church of Christ.
Survivors include daughters, Vivian Martin, and Nell Martin; a son and daughter-in-law, Hardy Bruce Jr. and Delita Barwick; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and William Marlett; daughter, Faye Hendley all of Valdosta; a son, John T. Ervin of Quitman; a son; Melvin J. Ervin of Valdosta; a daughter and son-in-law, Myra and William Mashburn of Quitman; 19 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; 6 great great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two spouses, Elsie Mae Brown Barwick and Lena M. Chaney Barwick; a granddaughter, Debbie Barwick; a great-grandson, Parker Donald Hendley, and six brothers and four sisters.
Services for Hardy Bruce Barwick, Sr. will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 5, 2009 in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Sunset Hill Cemetery.
