Hannalore "Hanna" Corbett, 75, of Lake Park, died Wednesday, October 29, 2014, at Langdale Hospice House. She was born in Crailsheim, Germany during World War II to Herr & Frau Kammerer, on March 12, 1939. Her father was in the German Wehrmacht (army) and was killed on the Russian front soon after her birth. Mrs. Corbett was raised by Frau Buck with three adopted brothers, Henry, Manfred and Walter. She trained in Germany as a nurse and moved to America in her early twenties. She was soon married and as an Air Force wife, she and her family moved all over the U.S. She then settled in Adel and there she worked for several years at Metal Products until the mid 1990's. Following that she worked briefly at Georgia Christian School in Dasher. She greatly enjoyed working in her yard and held a deep love for animals. Mrs. Corbett was a member of Statenville Church of Christ and actively served her church for many years.
Survivors include her husband, Chester Corbett of Lake Park, two sons, Thomas Bennett of Nashville, and Steven Bennett of Alma; two stepdaughters and a stepson in law, Jennifer & John Garrett of Valdosta and Janie Corbett of Lake Park; grandchildren, Hannah Bennett of Valdosta, Haley Garrett and Grant Garrett, both of Valdosta and Nicholas Fierra of Lake Park. She also had two special friends, T.J. Schultz and Margot Hitson. She is preceded in death by her stepson, Jeff Corbett.
A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 31, 2014, at Carter Cemetery, in Echols County. Evangelist Evans McMullen will officiate. The family will received friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, October 30, 2014 at the McLane Lakewood Funeral Home. Condolences to the family may be conveyed online at www.mclanecares.com.
