Hallie Hinshaw Dimascio

September 30, 1922 — November 10, 2014

Hallie Hinshaw DiMascio died Monday, November 10, after a short illness. She was born in Lakeview, GA on September 30, 1922 and then her family moved to Valdosta when she was 13. Hallie graduated from Valdosta High School and attended South Georgia Women's College before meeting her future husband, M.R. (Chic) DiMascio. With her husband in the Air Force, the couple was stationed in several locations before settling back in Valdosta after WWII. They were married for nearly 60 years before his passing in 2002.

Mrs. DiMascio was a charter member of Park Avenue United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School classes for many years and a was longtime member of the Methodist Women. She was an avid bridge player with a large circle of friends. Her infectious laugh could turn any gathering into a party. She was always a helper, going out of her way to make life easier for relatives and friends who needed assistance. In her later years, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were a source of joy for "Mamaw" and "Granny."

She is preceded in death by her parents, Sidney and Reba Hinshaw, her husband, M.R. (Chic) DiMascio, and her brother, Truman Hinshaw. Hallie is survived by her four children: Lynne Feldman of Valdosta, Toni (Vernon) Twitty of Camilla, GA, Michael (Jane) DiMascio of Orlando, FL, and Gregg (Angela) DiMascio of Valdosta; ten grandchildren: Tony DiMascio, Leigh Twitty, Trey Twitty, Stephanie DiMascio Herndon, Adam Feldman, Amy Feldman, Virginia DiMascio, Victoria DiMascio Parmerter, Kimberly DiMascio, and Elizabeth DiMascio; nine great-grandchildren; and her nieces and nephew.

The DiMascio family will receive friends at the Carson McLane Funeral Home from 6 until 8 p.m. on Thursday, November 13, 2014. A private committal will be held at a later time at Sunset Hill Cemetery.
