Gwynnette Hughes Sandlin

Gwynnette Hughes Sandlin, 87, of Lake Park, died on Sunday, January 05, 2014 at South Georgia Medical Center. She was born on September 11, 1926 to the late Eddie and Clyde Greene Hughes and has been a Echols County resident her whole life. She was a homemaker and a member of Sardis Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed.

Survivors include a daughter, Dorothy Joe Corbett; six sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne and Norma Sandlin, Buck and Shirley Sandlin, Jim and Dale Sandlin, Richard and Deanne Sandlin, Bob and Rhonda Sandlin and Don and Connie Sandlin all of Lake Park; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one brother, Eddie Merle Hughes of Lake Park; a son-in-law, Glen Isgro of Valdosta; a sister-in-law, Jean Howell of Lake Park. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe L. Sandlin, Jr.; a daughter, Susie Isgro; a daughter-in-law, Betty Jo Sandlin; a son-in-law, Terry Corbett; three sisters, Catherine Hughes, Sadie Hughes and Maxine Harris.

A graveside service for Gwynnette Hughes Sandlin will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at the Carter Cemetery in Echols County with Rev. Milton Sellars and Rev. Garvie Nichols officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 5-7 p.m. at the McLane Lakewood Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of South Georgia.
