Gwendolyn (Gwen) Tindle Beaty, 87, of Ray City, passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2025, at South Georgia Medical Center. She was born on July 30, 1937, in Columbus, Georgia, to the late Addis and Nancy Watson Tindle. Gwen retired from C&S Bank, where she served as a clerk, and was a devoted member of Northside Baptist Church. She had a passion for watching fixer-upper shows on TV and enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and creating blankets and Halloween costumes for her beloved grandchildren. Gwen cherished moments spent with her family and found joy in reading her Bible and exploring magazines for inspiration for her next project.
She is survived by her husband, Melvin Beaty of Ray City; two daughters and sons-in-law, Belinda and Hippie Lanier of Ray City, JoAnn Bair and Tim Young of Green Cove Springs, Florida; a daughter-in-law, Beverly Hemby of Valdosta; sons, Jeffery Beaty and John Beaty both of West Minister, Colorado; her grandchildren and their spouses, Sara and Jimmy Lindsey of Valdosta, Heather Bennett and William Mote of Ray City, Crystal and Mike Estes of White Bluff, Tennessee, Ashley and Jessica Thornton and Brittany and Dillon Donahoe all of Valdosta; her great-grandchildren, Annabella Jackson and Brandon Harvey, Cody Hughes, Austin Crosby, Jordan Hughes and Joshua Lane, Kayleigh Bennett, Aidan Lindsey, Christa Hemby, Dorian Gonzalez, Cade Stephenson, Halee Estes, Cheyenne Hemby, Kayleigh Stephenson, Evelyn Donahoe and Donovan Donahoe; great-great-grandchildren, Havyn Harvey, Nevaeh Shaw, and Kingston Harvey. She was preceded by a son, Byron Hemby, a grandson, Robert Hughes, and a granddaughter, Amanda Hemby.
Services for Gwen Beaty will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at Northside Baptist Church with Dr. Gary Woods officiating. The burial will follow in the McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday evening at the Carson McLane Funeral Home.
