Parker McGhin, 28, of Valdosta passed away suddenly Friday, May 16, 2014 at his residence. Parker was born February 2, 1986 in Valdosta to Lyle and Annie McGhin. He was a 2004 graduate of Lowndes High School and had recently started working for Turner's Budget Furniture.
Parker was an amazing young man. He was a very loving son and brother and extremely proud and protective of his older sister, Katie. His wit and sense of humor were treasured by all who knew him. When Parker was around you were guaranteed a good time with lots and lots of laughter. He never met a stranger and, because of this, he had many, many good friends, all of whom will miss him immeasurably. He loved to be outdoors fishing, camping, or riding his bike. He also loved music of all genres and got the biggest kick out of whistling a tune so that his mom would get it stuck in her head for hours. He and his Dad, whom he greatly loved and respected, would cook together when Parker was young and, as a result, he developed a love of food. He became a fabulous cook and enjoyed creating original dishes for his family and friends. Parker was full of life and will forever be missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include his parents, Lyle and Annie McGhin of Valdosta; one sister and brother-in-law, Katie and Dave Franks of Valdosta; four uncles and three aunts, Walt and Leslie McGhin of Valdosta; John G. (Nick) and Cathryn (Kay) Faulman of Sarasota, FL; Roland Reid and Pilar Parker of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; Lt. Col. Charles W. (Charlie) Parker of Punta Gorda, FL; several cousins and extended family, his beloved dogs Stanley and Hannah, and life-long buddy Travis LaMontagne. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ralph and Ivadine Joseph, Lyle McGhin, Sr, Lt. Col. Guy Reid Parker, Jean Elizabeth Parker and his great-grandmother Mamie (Mama) Reid Parker.
