Grimes Allen Lancaster

Grimes Allen Lancaster, 90, of Valdosta, died on Thursday, July 18, 2019, at his residence following a period of declining health. Born on December 22, 1928 in Trion, GA he was a son of the late Jesse and Hettie Mae Bean Lancaster. Mr. Lancaster was a veteran of the United States Army and a retired auto body shop owner and painter. He was a faithful member of Central Avenue Church of Christ.
Survivors are his wife Mildred Young Lancaster of Valdosta; two daughters and one son-in-law, Dawn McLeod (Ashley) and Denise McCrary all of Valdosta; five grandchildren, Michael McCrary (Julie) of Cumming GA; Justin McCrary (Brandy) of Valdosta; Auburn Bennett (Chad) of Valdosta; Laura Cole (Daniel) of Eagle River, AK; Elizabeth McLeod of Calera, AL, six great-grandchildren; Avery McCrary, Presley McCrary, Peyton McCrary, Anabella McCrary, Miller McCrary, and Grant Cole; one sister Yvonne “Deedle” Scott (Wayne) of Chickamauga, GA, brother-in-law; LeRoy Witt of Trion, “adopted daughter” Krista Royal of Valdosta and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers, Sybil Williams (Jack), Jean Witt, Catherine Lancaster, Willard Lancaster (Rose) and Lee Lancaster (Kathleen)

Funeral services for Mr. Lancaster will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 20, 2019 in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. John Chick and Mr. John Klimko officiating, private burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Quitman. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted, or donations may be made to your favorite charity.
