G.M. (Mike) Baker

G.M. "Mike" Baker, 60, of Valdosta, passed away Thursday, June 16, 2011, at his residence after a courageous battle with cancer.

Mike was employed by Veolia Environmental Services as a Diesel Mechanic for over twenty-five years. He was a member of the Ellenton Baptist Church, loved spending time with his family and enjoyed fishing.

He is survived by his wife of twenty-eight years, Debbie M. Baker; three children, Brandy Melissa Carr and husband Michael of Tifton, Joshua Michael Baker and wife Joanie, and Sarah Elizabeth Baker, all of Valdosta; three grandchildren, Joshua M. Baker, Jr., Ean Michael Carr and Dillon Stalvey; one brother, Jeff Baker and wife Dottie of Ellenton; two sisters, Judy May and husband Roger of Ellenton, and Tammy Pettyjohn and husband Audie of Moultrie; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Floyd Baker and Gladys Riggs Baker.

Funeral Services for Mr. Baker will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 18, 2011, in the Chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Stanley Norman officiating. In honor of Mr. Baker's request, cremation will take place after the service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., prior to the service.
