Glendon Ellsworth Rowland, 69, of Valdosta died on Sunday, July 15, 2007, at South Georgia Medical Center after a sudden illness. Born on July 31, 1937, to the late Robert Glendon Rowland and Opal Hamilton Rowland he was formerly of Medway, Ohio and worked as a machinist for Hobart. Mr. Rowland had made his home in Valdosta for the past 13 months and was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Dols Rowland of Valdosta; his children, Karen Johnson, Debra Jacobs, Charles Rowland, Tamara Cook, Kristal Clark and Ryan Cox all of Ohio; thirteen grandchildren, nine great grandchildren; sisters, Ann Glass of Kentucky, Ellen Richter of California, and brothers, Gene Rowland of Ohio and Gary Rowland of Illinois. Mr. Rowland was preceded in death by a brother, Gail Rowland.
Memorial services will be held on Thursday, July 19, 2007, at 6:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church. Reverend Thomas Mason, Jr. will officiate. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Heart Association or to the Music Ministry at First United Methodist Church. Carson McLane Funeral Home is serving the family.
