Glenda Wildes Cason, 69, of Douglasville, Georgia died unexpectedly on Friday, February 29, 2008 after a very short illness. She was the daughter of R.H. and Emma Thrift Wildes of Folkston, Georgia. A 1956 graduate of Charlton County High School, Glenda later graduated from the Dell School of Medical Technology in Asheville, North Carolina. She was employed in many hospitals and doctor's offices in South Georgia and North Florida. Later in life, she was a real estate agent in Valdosta and Douglasville, Georgia.
Glenda was a former president of The American Cancer Society-Valdosta Chapter, former president of the Azalea Women's Club and the Wymodausis Women's Club, and a past president of the Board of Realtors in Valdosta. She further served on the Board of Director's of the St. Simons Island Jaycetts and was a member of the Valdosta Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. At the time of her death, she was a Parishioner of St. John Vianney Catholic Church of Lithia Springs, Georgia. She had been a Parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Valdosta, where she served as a Cantor.
Glenda, more beautiful than Ava Gardner, was an exceptional cook, better than Paula Deen. She was also an avid bridge player. More importantly, she was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was married to Michael Harvey Cason for almost 49 years, but they had known each other for almost 60 years.
Survivors include her husband, Michael, her two sons, Joey Cason of St. Simons Island, Georgia and David (and wife Tracie) Cason of Loganville, Georgia, and her two grandchildren, Keeli and Gabe Cason of Valdosta, Georgia. Glenda is also survived by her sister, Mildred Ratcliffe of Jacksonville, Florida, two close nieces, Gloria D'Angelo of St. Augustine, Florida, and Diane Brown of Tallahassee, Florida, and nephews, Ransel Wildes of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Stanley Wildes of Folkston, Georgia.
There will be a Sacramental Rosary on Sunday at 7 p.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Valdosta. Services will be held Monday, March 3, 2008 at 11 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Interment will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday at Pineview Cemetery in Folkston, Georgia.
