Gladys R. Cary, 99, of Valdosta, died on Sunday, August 25, 2013 at Langdale Hospice House. Born in Robinson, IL to the late Frank Andrew & Nellie Barnett Richart, she had lived in Valdosta for the past 5 years after moving from Robinson, IL, her lifelong home. Mrs. Cary was an excellent cook, well known for her potato salad, handmade noodles and fried chicken.
Survivors include her daughter and son in law, Mary L. & Richard G. Snyder, of Valdosta; two grandsons and their spouses, Mark J. & Julie Snyder of Marshall, IL, and David L. & Toni Snyder of Valdosta; four great grandchildren, Holden Lindsay and Abi Snyder, both of Marshall, IL, Mackenzie Snyder and Kylee Snyder, both of Valdosta. Also surviving is a sister in law, Roberta Richart of Robinson, IL and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Cary is preceded in death by two husbands, Melvin L. Carey and Paul Cary and seven brothers and sisters.
A funeral service for Mrs. Cary is scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday, August 31, 2013, at Pulliam Funeral Home in Robinson, IL. Burial will follow at Hardinville Cemetery in Martin Township, IL. Rev. Larry McCormick and Rev. Paul Grey will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Robinson from 2 p.m. until service time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of South Georgia/Langdale Hospice House, P.O. Box 1727, Valdosta, GA 31603.
