Gladys M. Lewis, 71, of Valdosta, died Monday, March 3, 2008 at the Langdale Hospice House. She was born in Salford, Ontario, Canada on March 19, 1936 to the late Maxwell Samuel and Elsie Mae Wilson Phillips. Mrs. Lewis was a homemaker and a member of Jennings United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Alton Lewis of Valdosta, three children, David Lewis and Brenda Dwyer of Valdosta, Terry Lewis and his wife, Melanie of Lake Park, special friend, Joyce Allen of Thomasville. Her daughter, Polly Ann Pilgrim of Lake Park preceded her in death on September 25, 2000. Mrs. Lewis is also survived by her grandsons, Travis Lewis and his wife, Camille, David Lewis and his wife, Alaina, Jody Pilgrim, Josh Pilgrim and Zackery Lewis, granddaughters, Maria Scott and her husband, Craig, Selena Pilgrim, Brook Lewis, great grandchildren, Brandi Scott, Brittney Scott, Tyler Pilgrim, Lexi, Ellie, Coleman and Grayson Lewis, one sister, Linda Johnson of Canada, son in law, Virgil Pilgrim of Lake Park and several nieces and nephews. She is also preceded in death by one brother, Sam Phillips.
Graveside funeral services will be held Friday, March 7, 2008 at two p. m. in Sasser's Landing Cemetery near Jennings, FL with Reverend Lee FerDon officiating. The family will receive friends from six until eight p. m. Thursday at the McLane Lakewood Funeral Home in Lake Park. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Hospice of South Georgia.
