Gladys Hathaway

June 12, 1929 — December 9, 2007

GLADYS B. HATHAWAY, 78, of Valdosta was carried into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior on Sunday, December 9, 2007 after an extended illness. She was born on June 12, 1929 in New Brunswick, Canada and later married Donald Hathaway of Gardiner, Maine and moved to Valdosta. She was devoted to the nursery of the Nazarene Church for 16 years, cared for children in her home and raised countless numbers of cats. All year long, she looked forward to Thanksgiving and Christmas. She was well known for walking everywhere she needed to go.

Survivors include her children and their spouses, Jim and Lorna Hathaway of Valdosta, David and Brenda Hathaway of Twin Lakes, Mike Hathaway of Moultrie, Sandra Hermann of Quitman, Gene and Cherie Hathaway of Valdosta, Brian and Diane Hathaway of Valdosta, grandchildren, Kathryn and Charles Adams of Statenville, Mary Hathaway, Jacob Hathaway both of Valdosta, Edgar Hathaway of Gainesville, Nic and Derek Hathaway of Valdosta, great grandchildren, Jake, Chase and Regan Adams all of Statenville, sister and brother in law, Beulah and Larry Murphy and nephew, Jeffrey Crocker all of Quitman, brothers and sisters in law, Arthur and Betty Baker of Gardiner, ME., Ronald and Loretta Baker of Farmingdale, ME., Donald and Loretta Baker of Hendersonville, TN, special daughter in law, Tina Hathaway of Valdosta, special friend, Iris Hirsch of Arizona. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Hathaway. A special thanks to Dr. Bill Grow, Dr. Mark Corbitt, Dr. Antoinette Patterson, nurses at Smith Northview Hospital and Hospice of South Georgia.

Funeral services will be held at 2pm, Wednesday, December 12, 2007 at the Christ Episcopal Church with Father Peter Ingeman officiating. A private entombment will be held at Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6-8pm at the funeral home.
