Gilbert Douglas Landers, 71, of Valdosta died Saturday, February 21, 2015 at South Georgia Medical Center. He was born in Charlotte, North Carolina on November 12, 1943 and had lived in Valdosta for the past nine years. Mr. Landers was retired after thirty five years as City Clerk for the city of Landrum, South Carolina. He was a charter member of New Beginnings United Methodist Church in Boiling Springs, South Carolina and a charter member of the Landrum Rescue Squad. Mr. Landers was a veteran of the United States Air Force having served in the Cold War.
Survivors include his wife, Anna Kaye Landers of Valdosta, his daughter and son in law, Amanda and Michael Doherty of Crystal Lake, Illinois, his son and daughter in law, Alan and Yvonne Landers of Valdosta, four grandchildren, Erin Doherty, Sara Doherty, Ethan Landers and Hannah Landers. He was preceded in death by his mother, Essie Epton Landers.
