Gertrude "Trudy" Peterson

Gertrude “Trudy” Peterson, 94, lifelong resident of the Lake Park area, passed from this life on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, in Jasper, Florida. Trudy was born in Cottondale, Florida, on November 29, 1929, daughter of the late Marvin and Clida Lee Spivey Shouppe. A hardworking lady, she was employed with Texture Tex for a time and also worked alongside her husband on their family farm.  Passionate about her Lord and Savior, she was a faithful member of Sardis Baptist Church.  Trudy loved to sing, was known for her good southern cooking, and she enjoyed the beauty of nature.

Survivors are her daughter and son in law, Diane and Robert Windham of Dothan, Alabama; grandchildren, Robyn (Justin) Deacon of Mobile, Alabama, Regina (Danny) Adams of Hartford, Alabama; great grandchildren, Mitch Adams, Emma Deacon, and Sophie Deacon; stepdaughter, Nita Olton of Merritt Island, Florida, her brother, Chester J. Shouppe of Perry, Florida; special friends, Dorothy Jo Corbett and family, Mike and Penny Coggins and family, and a host of nieces and nephews.   She was preceded in death by her husband, George Robert Peterson and her brothers and sisters.  

Funeral services for Mrs. Peterson will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at McLane Lakewood Funeral Home. Reverend Zack Corbett and Reverend Rick Fountain will officiate. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home on Saturday. Burial will follow at Lake Park Cemetery.  McLane Lakewood Funeral Home is entrusted with services for Mrs. Peterson.
