Gerard H Plageman III, 88, of Valdosta, died on Friday, August 11, 2006, at his residence after a brief illness. He was born on September 21, 1917 in Richmond, VA to the late Gerard H. Jr. and Helen McDonell Plageman. Mr. Plageman spent his entire life in the poultry business; first as owner and operator of a processing plant in Glen Allen, VA and later as owner of a food brokerage company in Norfolk, VA.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Margaret Gillio Plageman, of Valdosta, a daughter and son in law, Joan & Gil DeBiasi of Richmond, VA; three sons and daughters in law, Jerry & Phyllis Plageman of Lake Wylie, SC, Don & Anne Plageman of Valdosta, and Bob & Mary Plageman of Fort Meyers, FL; 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Mr. Plageman is preceded in death by a sister, Helen Plageman Witt, and two brothers, John Edward Plageman and Charles Donald Plageman.
A private funeral mass will be held on Monday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Father John O’Brien will officiate. The committal will follow at the mausoleum at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens.
