Obit on Gerald Haltiwanger
Entered into rest Sunday, December 23, 2007, Mr. Gerald Edgar Haltiwanger, 80, beloved husband of fifty seven years to Mrs. Clementine George Haltiwanger and son of the late Jobe Olander and Lula Amick Haltiwanger. Born in Chapin, SC, he was a Korean War veteran, who proudly served his country in the United States Army. Mr. Haltiwanger retired as a self-employed plumbing contractor and had attended St. John’s Catholic Church. He was very well known for the wonderful vegetables from his garden as well as his fishing expertise.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Dr. Steve Haltiwanger (Emily) of El Paso, TX; Randy Haltiwanger (Debra) of Valdosta; Lisa Newton (Patrick) of St. Simons Island; six grandchildren, Nuri, Haley, Jeremy, Jonathan, Jenna Haltiwanger and Alexandra Newton. He was preceded in death by eleven brothers and sisters.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, December 27, 2007 at 2 p.m. graveside at Sunset Hill Cemetery with Father Marvin LeFrois officiating. The family will receive visitors at St. John’s Catholic Church parish hall following the memorial service. The family has asked that if so desired, memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or St. John’s Catholic School, 800 Gornto Road Valdosta Ga. 31602.
