George Wesley Brogdon

George Wesley Brogdon, 82, of Valdosta died Saturday, February 28, 2009 at his home. He was born in Lanier County on July 4, 1926 to the late John Dave and Lessie Gorganas Brogdon. Mr. Brogdon owned and operated Brogdon Realty Company in Valdosta for many years and was a member of the Park Avenue United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Valdosta Board of Realtors, a lifetime member of the Elks Club and a Mason for more than fifty years. Mr. Brogdon served in the United States Army Air Corps.

Survivors include two sons and daughters in law, Steve W. and Donna Brogdon of Valdosta, David and Wendy Brogdon of Jacksonville, Fla., two daughters and son in law, Brenda Tillman of Augusta and Jan and Doug Wheaton of Tampa, Fla., his grandchildren and their spouses, Steven Wade, Jr. and Christian Brogdon, Clayton Wesley Brogdon, Ashley Wheaton Mounce and her husband, Martin Mounce, Emily Wheaton Van Weedle and her husband, Taylor Van Weedle, Elaine Connell Tillman, Lauren Claire Tillman, Bailey Patricia Brogdon and Katherine Elizabeth Brogdon, three great grandchildren, Riley Dakota Van Weedle, Caylin Avery Mounce and Gavin Isaiah Mounce. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia "Patsy" Smith Brogdon.

Funeral services will be held at 11am, Monday, March 2, 2009 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with the Rev. Willie Beasley officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunset Hill Cemetery.
