George William (Pete) Shiver, Jr., 70, of Valdosta, died on Friday, February 10, 2017, at South Georgia Medical Center after a lengthy illness. Born in Valdosta, on March 16, 1946, Pete was the son of the late George and Hilda Hall Shiver. A machinist, he was a Vietnam Veteran and had retired from the U.S. Army. He was a member of Redland Baptist Church and the Rocky Ford Hunting Club.
Survivors are his wife, Aurora Dawn Shiver; daughter and son in law, Ivie and Dustin Rozier of Quitman, son and daughter in law, Edward and Brooke Shiver of Valdosta; grandchildren, Ellison and Emmerson Shiver, Elijah and Elan Rozier; sisters, Evelyn and Ed Lund, Gayle and Wayne Dawkins all of Valdosta; sister in law, Ginger Shiver of Valdosta; mother and father in law, Uriel Leopando and Elizabeth Leopando, sister in law and brother in law, Sonnie and Rey Manalang; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pete was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Donny Shiver.
Funeral services for George William (Pete) Shiver, Jr. will be held on Monday, February 13, 2017, at 12:00 noon at Redland Baptist Church. Pastor Jay Watkins will officiate. Burial will follow at Mt.
