GEORGE KENNETH "KEN" HILL, 74, of Valdosta, passed away Wednesday, May 26, 2010, at South Georgia Medical Center after a short illness.
Ken was born September 16, 1935 in Cross City, FL, a son of the late George Columbus and Minnie Mae Ware Hill. He served in the United States Air Force, and for over thirty years he was employed as an Electronic Technician for the Federal Aviation Administration at Valdosta Regional Airport. Following his retirement he enjoyed working with his daughter, Minnie, at Blinds Unlimited, Inc. Ken was a Baptist, he loved his family, hunting, fishing, sports, shopping, doing yard work, and will be remembered for having a great sense of humor.
Survivors include his loving wife, Jean Hill of Valdosta, GA; three daughters and one son-in-law, Kaye Hill of Panama City, FL, Tina Hill of Valdosta, GA, and Minnie and husband Mike Stalvey of Hahira, GA; two sons and one daughter-in-law, George Hill Jr. of Valdosta, GA, and Lloyd and wife Tanya Hill of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, Suzanne and Travis Barrett of Ochlocknee, GA, Michael Mullinax of Chester, GA, Tabitha and Jason Barber of Barney, GA, Jim (Bubba) Davis of Atlanta, GA, Cassie Jae Stalvey of Hahira, GA, Tiffany Hill and Daniel Wrye of Valdosta, GA, Harley Harden of Valdosta, GA, Jessi Hill and Randall Griffith of Wilmington, NC, Kenny Hill of Charlotte, NC, Mika and Scottie Brogdon of Nashville, GA, and Ashley and Josh Turner of Hahira, GA; great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Ragan and Ethan Barrett, Paisley Grace Barber, Kinsley and Kaden Brogdon, Hanna and Daniel Turner, Gabriell Wrye, Waylon Harden, and Leanna Hill; one sister, Newanna Watts of Tampa, FL; six nephews and wives, Mr. and Mrs. Ronnie Johnson of Cross City, FL, Mr. and Mrs. Hal Johnson of Perry, FL, Mr. and Mrs. Steve Hill of FL, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Harold Hill of Perry, FL, Mr. and Mrs. Roger Mills of Tampa, FL, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Johnson of CT; one niece, Gloria Brooks of FL; best friend, Matt Bennett of Nashville, GA; and his canine companion, Tinkerbell. In addition to his parents of Cross City, FL, he was predeceased by one brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Mildred Hill of Perry, FL; and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Thelma and Luther Brooks of Jacksonville, FL, and Berta and Johnny Johnson of Cross City, FL.
Funeral Services for Mr. Hill will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 29, 2010, in the Chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Elder Thad Marshall officiating. Interment will follow at Friendship Cemetery. The Hill family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Friday at the funeral home.
