George Isaac Allbritton, Jr., 76, of Valdosta, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, March 16, 2021. He was born in Valdosta on March 29, 1944 to the late George Isaac Allbritton, Sr. and Gladys Minton Allbritton. He graduated in the early 1960’s from Valdosta High School then went on to Valdosta State College where he graduated in June of 1966 with a Business Degree. George was a longtime dedicated employee of ITT Thompson/Metal Products here in Valdosta where he was in materials management until his retirement in 2005. He loved playing golf, watching college sports, and assisting Jimmy on side jobs. George kept a meticulous house and yard. He was a very giving and loving father and supported his family but was very frugal with himself. George loved and supported his whole family. He was a member of Westside Baptist Church.
George is survived by his daughters and sons in law, Angie and Theron Purvis, and Shannon and Jimmy Bridges, both of Lake Park; his grandchildren, Cameron (Taylor) Young, Thomas Hinton, both of Lake Park, Casey (Dan) Cruz, of San Antonio, TX, Emily (Russell) McCullars, of Opelika, AL, Elizabeth (Densil) Hill, of Hahira, Donovan Purvis, of Naples, FL, Brooke Purvis, of Orlando, FL, and Ashlyn Purvis, of Lake City, FL; his great grandchildren, Austin McCullars, Arabella Purvis, and Kaleb Mesa; his siblings, Bill Allbritton, of Atlanta, Dorothy Simpson, of Valdosta, Wallace Allbritton, of Valdosta; his sister and brother in law, Faye and O’Neal Grant of Valdosta; and sister in law, Sylvia Allbritton, of Valdosta; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Audrey Kiser, Mildred Kiser, brother Ashley Allbritton, and special nephews, Spencer Kiser, and Wayne Kiser.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at Carson McLane Funeral Home with Mr. John Klimko officiating. Entombment will follow at McLane Riverview Mausoleum. The family will receive friends on Friday from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
