George D. Boyd Iii

George D. (Dopey) Boyd III, 76, of Valdosta, passed away Saturday, July 12, 2014, at the Langdale Hospice House.

He was born December 13, 1937, in Augusta, a son of the late George D. Boyd, Jr. and Norma H. Silas Boyd. For over sixty years, Mr. Boyd owned and operated Boyd Floor Finishing. He loved spending time with his granddaughters and great-grandchildren, he enjoyed fishing, farming, playing the guitar, and he loved animals.

He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Deanna and Blue Beard of Valdosta; two granddaughters, Amanda and husband Clint Griffin of Valdosta, and Ashley and husband Nick Blair of Greenville, SC; five great-grandchildren, Peyton, Autumn and Dalton Blair, and Matthew and Hayden Griffin; special friends, Lonnie Dinkins of Valdosta, and Terry and Carol Wood of Valdosta; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Ann Wilkes Boyd.

The Funeral Service for Mr. Boyd will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 14, 2014, at the Chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home, with Rev. Bob Willis officiating. Interment will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.
