GEORGE "BUDDY" WHITE, JR., 76, of Valdosta, passed away Sunday, December 6, 2009, at his home with his family by his side.
He was born on December 29, 1932 in Lake Butler, FL, a son of the late George and Dollie Seay White. For 35 years he owned and operated Valdosta Diesel Service, retiring in 2005. Buddy was the best mechanic in Valdosta and worked hard all of his life. He enjoyed farming as a hobby and loved his cows. He was a wonderful husband and father, always taking care of his family. He never met a stranger and was always willing to help anyone in need. With Buddy, it was either his was or no way. He attended Lake Park United Methodist Church.
In addition to his wife of 34 years, Janice White, he is survived by his four children, Teresa McDaniel and husband Benny of Ray City, Candy Shaw and husband Eric of Hahira, Ted White and wife Emily of Valdosta, and Nicole Garnto and husband Chase of Valdosta; nine grandchildren; four sisters, Hazel Osbourne and husband Don of Valdosta, Shirley Hurst of Valdosta, Betty Woods and husband Daryl of Phoenix, AZ, and Joann Barnes of Valdosta; two brothers, Edward White and wife Netty of Phoenix, AZ, and Jack White and wife Sarah of Valdosta; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and by a brother, Ronald "Hambone" White.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, December 9, 2009, in the Chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Pastor Gwin Jarriel officiating. Burial will follow at Redland Church of Christ Cemetery.
