Gene Tustin

Gene Tustin, 57, of Valdosta, passed away Thursday, December 30, 2010, at his home after a long illness. He was known to his friends as �Mean Gene�.

He was born March 13, 1953 in Steubenville, OH, a son of the late Donald Tustin and June Owens. For a brief time he lived in CA where he met his wife, Nancy, and together they moved to Valdosta 29 years ago. Gene retired from Southern States in January 2008 due to illness.

Gene took great care of Nancy and loved fishing.

In addition to his wife Nancy Tustin, he is survived by one son, James Alan Emery and Sarah Fine of Valdosta; one daughter, Heather Ruiz and husband Daniel of Muskegon, MI; five grandchildren, Thomas, Andrew and Kymberli Emery, and Danny and Lexi Ruiz; five brothers, David Tustin, Ed Tustin and wife Geraldine, Willard Tustin and wife Linda, Jerry Tustin and wife Susan, all of West Virginia, and Bernie Tustin and wife Phyllis of Lake Park; one sister, Lori Starkey and husband Doug of Burgettston, PA; eight additional brothers and sisters; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, his step-father, Walt Owens, a son, Michael Tustin, and one brother, Donald Tustin.

Gene�s family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Sunday, January 2, 2011 at the Carson McLane Funeral Home.
