Gene "Johnny" Dennis

GENE "JOHNNY" DENNIS, 81, of Lehigh Acres, Florida and formerly of Valdosta died Thursday, February 7, 2008 at the Health Park Hospice in Ft. Myers, Florida. He was born on October 7, 1926 in Kent, Florida to the late Charlie and Essie Mae Hendricks Dennis. Mr. Dennis was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church in Valdosta. Mr. Dennis was a carpenter with D. C. Cauthan Construction in Valdosta and a veteran of the United States Army having served in World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Pearlie Mae "Pearl" Dennis of Lehigh Acres, Fla., two daughters and sons in law, Gloria and Thom Howard of Murfreesboro, TN., Rhonda and Averitt Walker of Ft. Myers, Fla., two sons and daughters in law, John and Melinda Dennis of Valdosta, Rick and Donna Dennis of Winder, GA., 10-grandchildren, 17-great grandchildren, two sisters, Edna Hasty of Phenix City, Ala. and Mary Dennis of Birmingham, Ala., several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Charles David Dennis.

Graveside services will be held at 2pm, Sunday, February 10, 2008 at Good Hope Cemetery with his nephew, Scott Dennis and son in law, Thom Howard officiating.
