Gary Lee Schoen, 69, of Hahira died Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at South Georgia Medical Center. He was born on August 12, 1951 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Rudolph John and Mary Ann Zontak Schoen and had lived in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for many years before moving to Hahira several years ago. Mr. Schoen attended Bethany Baptist Church and retired as factory manager at Bay Valley Food. He loved the Lord and spending time with his family especially his wife Terry, daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mr. Schoen enjoyed fishing, playing his guitar, reading, puzzles, watching Old Westerns on television and tending his plants and flowers. He had served as an Elder and Deacon at Oak Hill Alliance in Cranberry Township, PA.
Survivors include his wife, Terry Schoen of Hahira; two daughters and sons in law, Vicki and John Wetter of Hahira, Traci and James Chumak of Pittsbugh, PA; his grandchildren, Joshua and Lauren Wetter of Pittsburgh, PA, Sarah Wetter and Jerry Cravey of Hahira, Michael Arndt of Hahira, Gary Benetti of Pittsburgh, PA, Shannon and Joshua Schofield of Hahira, Joseph Nino Benetti, III, Kacie Fogle and Jacob Fogle, Dillon Chumak and Derick Chumak all of Pittsburgh, PA; great grandchildren, Khloe Arndt, John Arndt, Lucas Schofield, Joshua Cravey and he was excited about the arrival of great grandchild, Baby Schofield due in February, 2022; sister and brother in law, Phyllis and Gary Grandchamp, sister in law, Lana Radke, brothers in law and sisters in law, Martin and Marilyn Hopman, Jon and Norma Hopman all of Chicago, IL; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and his beloved dog Elsa and cats Kali and Koki. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rudolph John and Mary Ann Zontak Schoen; parents in law, Martin and Evelyn Hopman and sister in law, Linda Ziccardi.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm, Wednesday, July 7, 2021 in the chapel of Martin/McLane Funeral Home with Chaplain Creston Hulett officiating.
