Gary Dwane Johnson, Sr., 58, of Nashville, died on Friday, August 16, 2013 following a brief illness at South Georgia Medical Center. He was born on March 13, 1955 in Adel, Georgia to the late Troy and Hester Spurlock Johnson. He had worked as an electrical consultant with several local businesses in the South Georgia area and across the United States. His expertise in robotic science was invaluable to many in the field of electrical technology. Gary loved racing and loved late model cars and had raced himself in years past. He was a member of New Covenant Church and was a loving father and grandfather.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Kristi and David Godwin of Hahira; a son and daughter-in-law, Dwane and Charlotte Johnson of Nashville; grandchildren, Sierra Johnson of Nashville, Daniel Weaver, Dawson Godwin, Kristann Godwin and Drew Godwin all of Hahira; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerry and Susan Johnson of Kennesaw, Georgia, Marlin and Judy Johnson of Nashville and Edward Johnson of Nashville; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife Ginger Ann Parr Johnson.
Services for Gary Dwane Johnson, Sr. will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, August 19, 2013 at New Covenant Church with Pastor Randy Stephen officiating. A private burial will follow the services.
