Garnett McCurley, 92, of Valdosta died Friday, November 6, 2015 at Langdale Hospice House. She was born in New Galilee, Pennsylvania on February 4, 1923 to the late Robert Sterrett McAnlis and Carrie Belle Campbell McAnlis and lived in Mt. Jackson, Pennsylvania until moving to Valdosta six years ago. Mrs. McCurley was a member of the Lighthouse Baptist Church in Bessemer, PA and joined the Northside Baptist Church upon moving to Valdosta. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother who loved sewing and music.
Survivors include her two daughters and sons in law, Sharon and Tim Holder of Valdosta, Denise and John Douthat of Wickenburg, AZ; grandchildren, Abbey and Nick Palombo of Valdosta, Forrest and Katie Holder of Alpharetta, GA and Jesse Holder of Valdosta; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willis J. McCurley, her son in law, Gene Stuart, a sister, Gladys Keane and a brother, John D. McAnlis.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. at the Terry Cunningham Funeral Home in Bessemer, Pennsylvania with Pastor Brian Lott officiating. Burial will follow in the Westfield Presbyterian Church Cemetery in North Beaver Township, PA. The family will receive friends from 10am until 11:30 at the funeral home.
