Garey Frank Wood

Frank Wood, 38, of Lake City, FL and formerly of Valdosta died Friday, July 1, 2005 in Inverness, FL. Born July 8, 1966, in Grove City, PA, he is the son of Garey and Marie Squires Wood of Valdosta. Frank was a district manager for Stanley Steamer, was a member of the First Christian Church of Valdosta and had been in the US Army. He attended Valdosta Technical College where he served as the Student Government President and was the 1994 GOAL winner. He also attended Auburn University.

Survivors in addition to his parents include a son, Jonathan Bryant Wood of Valdosta; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Carolyn and Wesley Force of Valdosta and Lydia Marie and Donald Dawkins of Fort Walton Beach, FL; paternal grandmother, Pearl Wood of Clayton, NC; three nephews, Daniel Force, Corey Dawkins and Alden Force; three nieces, Jessica Dawkins, Sara Force and Amanda Dawkins; and several aunts and uncles. Frank was preceded in death by a brother Andrew Bryant Wood; his maternal grandparents, Andy and Carolyn Squires and his paternal grandfather Thedford Wood.

Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Dr. Milton West will officiate. Burial will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6 - 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made of Valdosta Technical College Foundation or First Christian Church.
