Gail Oreta Belcher, 72, of Jasper, Florida died on Monday, December 17, 2012 at South Georgia Medical Center following a sudden illness. She was born on October 29, 1940 in Trenton, New Jersey to the late Gene and Oreta Lee Goodwin Seaman. She was a retired CNA after 37 years of faithful service to the nursing profession. Her dedication was rewarded by the Hamilton County Hospital where she was awarded the Frist Humanitarian Award. She was also an accomplished author and poet and had many of her works published. Along with her love of poetry, she loved camping and fishing. Mrs. Belcher was a member of Lake Park United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Don Belcher of Jasper, Florida; a son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Betty Belcher of Elizabethton, Tennessee; two daughters and sons-in-law, Terry and Joseph Kurowski of Hernando, Florida and Cindy and Dale Mallory of Valdosta; a son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Tammy Belcher; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Alan and Pat Seaman of Hamilton, New Jersey and a sister, Patsy Seaman of Lakewood, New Jersey; an aunt, Esther Seaman on Sacramento, California; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Nancy Seaman and an uncle, Albert Seaman.
Services for Gail Oreta Belcher will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 21, 2012 in the chapel of the McLane Lakewood Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Anthony officiating. The burial will follow in the McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. at McLane Lakewood Funeral Home.
