G. Robert Carter, Jr.

G. Robert Carter, Jr., 86, of Clyattville, died on Saturday, February 12, 2011, at his home after a brief illness.

He was born July 8, 1924 in Taylor County, FL, a son of the late G. Robert Carter, Sr. and Nancy Walker Carter. Mr. Carter, an Army veteran of World War II, enjoyed farming, and his positions as Policeman, Sheriff and County Commissioner. He was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church.

He is survived by three daughters, Jayne Carter, Nancy Carter Ellington and son-in-law Rodney, and June Carter Ricks and son-in-law Mel, all of Clyattville; eight grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Carter was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Katie Ruth Carter; two brothers, John Rufus Carter and Samuel R. Carter; and a sister, Julia Carter Washington.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 14, 2011, in the Chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home, with Rev. Fred Foster and Rev. Tommy Bussey officiating. Burial will follow at Unity Cemetery.
