Frederick Eston Harvey

July 25, 1927 — February 21, 2006

FREDERICK ESTON HARVEY, 78, of Valdosta died Tuesday, February 21, 2006 at the Lakehaven Nursing Home after a lengthy illness. He was born in Rockwood, Tennessee on July 25, 1927 to the late Andrew Jackson Harvey and Florence Eunice Morris-Harvey. Mr. Harvey had lived in this area for the past 40 years. He joined the U. S. Navy in 1945 and later served with Naval Reserve until 1949. He graduated with honors from Tennessee Polytechnic Institute at Cookeville, Tennessee in 1949. He worked with the U. S. Social Security Administration in Tennessee, Alabama and Georgia and retired here after forty years of service. He was of the Presbyterian faith. His hobbies were photography, motorcycles, genealogy, music and working crosswood puzzles.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Bobbie Abel Harvey of Valdosta, three daughters, Iris Leigh Weaver of Stockbridge, Ga., Sharon Rose Kinsey and Anna Marie Harvey both Valdosta, a son and daughter in law, Sean Frederick and Latrelle Harvey of Patterson, Ga., grandchildren and spouses, Monique and Johnny Morris of Greensboro, Ala., Melissa and Billy Jones of Valdosta, Angela Watson of Waycross, Ga., Marcie Kinsey of Port Orange, Fla., and Phillip Williams of Valdosta, great grandchildren, Brandy and David Clark of Birmingham, Ala., Autumn and Shelby Kitchen of Greensboro, Ala., Nathan, Alexis and Christian Jones of Valdosta, Sean Hunter Watson of Waycross, one sister, Betty Harvey Reed of Knoxville, TN., a special cousin, June Stanley of Knoxville, TN., two devoted nephews, Drew Thornton of Strawberry Plains, TN and Chuck Thornton of Weaverville, NC. and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother, Mabel Harvey Thornton, Sue Harvey Rogers and Andrew Jackson Harvey, Jr.

Graveside services will be held at 3pm, Thursday, February 23, 2006 at Riverview Memorial Gardens with the Rev. John Akers officiating.
