Freddie Gordon (Fred) Smith, 57, of Hahira, died on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at South Georgia Medical Center following a lengthy illness. He was born on September 9, 1966, at Moody Air Force Base in Valdosta to the late Fred Earl Smith and Luella Brady Smith. Fred was the owner/operator of Hahira Automotive and was an ASE certified world class technician. He had been an avid mechanic all his life and took great pride in the work he did in serving the people of the Hahira and surrounding communities. He had a wide variety of passions and hobbies from liking anything with Scooby Doo and Snoopy to watching tv mysteries, watching NASCAR and his favorite driver, Chase Elliott, an avid coin collector and gun collector, a history buff, and his involvement and diligent work with the Walk to Emmaus Community. Above all, he loved his children, grandchildren and the love of his life, Kay, who was his world and light of his life.

Fred is survived by his wife, Kay Smith, and his children, Christi Swain, Robyn Tolson (Doug), Allison Smith Hicks (Randall), and Dylan Smith all of Hahira; his grandchildren, Autumn Johnson, Piper Nash, Eli Swain, Finnley Tolson, Michael Gordon Hicks; his sisters, April Garrett of Huntsville, Alabama, Terrie Sullivan of Atlanta, and Kim Stracener of Valdosta; his step-father, Brooks Mitchell of Huntsville and an aunt, Linzie Hansford of Valdosta; his parents-in-law Roy and Dixie Spiker of Valdosta, Fred took such great pride helping and taking care them. He was preceded by his biological mother, Shirley Mitchell and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Services for Fred Smith will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 27, 2024, in the chapel of the Martin McLane Funeral Home in Hahira with Rev. Mike Davis and Rev. Doug Tolson officiating.
