Fred Carlo, Jr.

Fred Joseph Carlo, Jr., 75, of Valdosta, passed away on Monday, April 8, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on June 7, 1948, in Valdosta to the late Fred Joseph Carlo, Sr. and Louise Carlo Adams. Fred attended school in Valdosta and Hahira, then joined the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. He left the Army and returned to Valdosta, and began his entrepreneurial career that involved insurance, operating a restaurant (Ma Groovers), construction and finally focused on construction and development of subdivisions. His favorite pastime was hunting or fishing with a friend or family members. Fred was a member of Hahira Church of God.

Mr. Carlo is survived by his wife Ann Carlo, of Valdosta; son and daughter-in-law, Fred J. Carlo, III and Ellen Marie Carlo, of Valdosta; daughter and son-in-law, Delicia and Denny Folsom, of Toccoa, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Jessie and Charlie Teepell, of Richmond Hill, GA; son, Evan Bius, of Valdosta; sisters, Shirley McKenzie, Baton Rouge, LA, Lila and Berney Armstrong, of Valdosta; his grandchildren, Fred J. Carlo, IV, Seth Carlo ( & Madison), Eli Carlo (& Haley), Elizabeth Fulmer (& John), Sarah Folsom, Jackson Teepell, and Stella Teepell; nine great grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces and other relatives. He was preceded in death by granddaughter, Nichole Carlo, and sisters, Lillian Mickel, and Mary Hardy.

A memorial service will be held at 3pm on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at the River Pavilion at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens with Brother George Ehling officiating. Fred will be buried on the family lot at Sunset Hill Cemetery. Online condolences may be shared at www.mclanecares.com.
