Franklin Laverne Weeks

January 20, 1932 — August 20, 2010

Franklin LaVerne Weeks, 78, of Valdosta, died Friday, August 20, 2010 at Heritage Healthcare. He was a lifelong resident of Lowndes County born on January 20, 1932 to the late Henry and Mattie Washington Weeks. Mr. Weeks was retired from the South Georgia News Agency after twenty four years of service, was a United States Navy Veteran, was a member of the Baptist faith and was retired from the Lowndes County Sheriff's Department.

He is survived by four daughters, Deborah Grounds, Pamela Warren, Brenda Weeks and Sandra Weeks all of Orlando, six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, a number of nieces and nephews, his companion and very best friend, Carolyn Weeks of Valdosta, Carolyn's children, Virginia Skiles and John Weeks, Jr. and her four grandchildren and one great grandchild. Mr. Weeks is preceded in death by his children's mother, Marion Gatlin, two sisters, Montez Zipperer and Edna Chadwick, six brothers, H. M. Weeks, Marlin Weeks, George Weeks, Ellis Weeks, Carl Weeks and Glenn Henry Weeks, one nephew, Danny Chadwick and one niece, Sally Squires.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 22, 2010 at two p. m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Pastor Brian Sayre officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery. The family will receive friends from seven until nine p. m. Saturday at the funeral home. Condolences to the family may be expressed online at www.mclanefuneralservices.com.
