Frances Wood, 77, of Valdosta, Georgia died on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at Langdale Hospice House following a brief illness. She was born on March 14, 1947, in Wauchula, Florida to the late George Earl and Lillar Matilda Jenkins Tindell. Mrs. Wood was retired from the United States Postal Service where she served many years as a carrier, clerk, and retired as Postmaster in Nichols, Florida. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, the most generous giver, and was passionate about making a difference in the lives of others. Most of all she loved her Lord and was a member of Clyattville First Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Tom Wood of Valdosta, Georgia; her children and their spouses, D'Gee and Chris Hodges of Wauchula, Florida, Gayle and A.J. Ramirez of Valdosta, Georgia, Tim and Tamara Wood of Lakeland, Florida, Sheri and Scott Bonville of Arcadia, Florida, Fred Valdez III of Valdosta, Georgia, and Caroline Gatica of Zolfo Springs, Florida; her grandchildren, Amanda Bissette, Taylor and Ana Hodges, Faith and Hayden Hawthorne, Reed and Jamie Valdez, Noel Valdez and Logan Davis, Rose Valdez, Judah Ramirez, Charleigh Wood, Cagen Wood, Kyler Kiesling, and Kolton Kiesling; great-grandchildren, Ripp Nuccio, Mattis Hawthorne, and Charlie Hawthorne; her nephew, David Tindell and numerous other nieces, nephews and loving family.
A service for Frances Wood will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 30, 2024, at the Clyattville First Baptist Church in Clyattville, Georgia with Rev. Roger Sims officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. On Friday, May 31, 2024, a celebration of life service will be held at the Limestone Baptist Church in Ona, Florida beginning at 1 p.m. and a committal service at the Lily Union Baptist Church Cemetery in Ona, Florida following the services. In lieu of flowers, the family will be honoring Frances by donating to future students at Valdosta State University.
