Frances Taylor Simpson

Frances Taylor Simpson, 82, of Barney, passed away Tuesday, September 6, 2011, at the Langdale Hospice House after a short illness.

She was born on October 1, 1928 in Quitman, a daughter of the late William Derry and Haskell Bruce Yancey Taylor. Mrs. Simpson was a member of the Barney United Methodist Church.

She is survived by three daughters and one son-in-law, Lynn and Bobby Sapp of Hahira, Paula Barnes of Valdosta, and Jan Simpson of Barney; four step-daughters, Patricia Atkins of Valdosta, Helen and husband Fleming Williams of Valdosta, Doris and husband Marvin Hudspeth of Land O' Lakes, FL, and Glenda Martin of Valdosta; one step-son, Woodrow and wife Cathy Simpson of Barney; eighteen grandchildren, twenty-eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Alice and husband Steve Griffin of Valdosta, and Betty Jean Williamson of Warner Robins; three brothers, Billy and wife Dee Taylor of Tallahassee, FL, Mac Taylor of Macon, and Emmett Taylor of Pawley's Island, SC; many nieces and nephews; and a large extended family of friends and neighbors. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow Russell Simpson; son, Bill Moran; grandson, Shannon Sapp; granddaughter, Brittany Moran; great-grandson, Nolan Harris; and brother, Jack Taylor.

Mrs. Simpson's family extends their deep gratitude to the staff of Langdale Hospice House for their wonderful care and support.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Simpson will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 9, 2011, in the Chapel of Martin-McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Charles McDowell officiating. Interment will follow at Campground Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
